Are you ready for 21st April ?

Google rarely gives advanced information about changes to its algorithm. So when Google recently announced the date and focus of their algorithm changes we knew it was going to be a serious update.

They said:

Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results.”

So, it is time to make sure that you have a mobile-friendly website. Google has made it easy to test things by creating a tool where you can enter your web address and get an instant result.  You can try it out here: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/  . Now is the time to make sure that you are not going to be affected negatively by this update.

Shocking Facts About Social Media!

Brace yourselves everyone, because we’re about to talk about the all-important topic of social media…

In blissful times gone by, social media was just another page on a website, rarely used or updated, but no longer! In recent years it has grown exponentially, developing its own language, community spirit and humour. Therefore, we must learn to embrace it!

We realise that some of you are probably there saying “social media is a waste of time for my business because only young people use it”. Well, I hate to break it to you but social media is no longer the teenage domain. Over the past year the fastest growing demographic on Twitter was the 55 to 64 age bracket and according to this study, mothers with children under the age of five are the most active on social media. (Are you listening tchild and baby photographers?!)

Social media: Voice and identity

Perhaps the greatest element of social media for business is the ability to have conversations with your potential customer and other businesses. Much like a physical store, although you can’t really leave your shop when its open!
