6 Weekend Activities To Help Improve Your Website And Blog

It’s almost the weekend and many of us are winding down to a couple of relaxing days off. For many of us the weekend is time to step back and spend time with friends and family. But while you’re putting your feet up, consider doing a few easy tasks and maintenance to help improve your blog and website.

ADD FRESH PHOTOS TO YOUR OLD BLOG POSTS

We’ve mentioned in previous blog posts (here and here) that re-purposing your old blog posts is a great way of sending out that great content all over again. It also keeps your blog updated regularly without you having to write new content all the time.

One of the main ways to re-purpose your old content is to update your images. Obviously if the post is about some past work you did this may be tricky, but even changing the order you display your images in could give it a revamp.

ADD OR UPDATE YOUR PROFILE IMAGE

If you’re not displaying an image of yourself on your website yet, now is the time. Displaying an image of yourself not only proves that you are in fact a real person but also shows that your business is professional and credible.

If you are already displaying a photograph of yourself but it’s seven years old then maybe now is the time to replace it with something more current.

UPDATE YOUR LINKS

Make sure all important links on your website still work and direct customers to the appropriate pages. Have you changed your content recently making certain links irrelevant? Also make sure that all links on your social media channels are still working and current. If you’re still displaying a link to your Christmas offers then now is the time to remove it?

PLAN BLOG POSTS

Take some time to plan your blog posts for the coming week or even month. This will save time in the long run and means that you know exactly what’s coming up over the next few weeks.

SCHEDULE IMPORTANT SOCIAL MEDIA UPDATES

If you use a social media scheduling programme such as Hootsuite, Coschedule and Buffer then take a moment to plan any important social media statuses. Do you have any important events coming up? Are you offering any discounts this month? Get them set up now so you can check that task off your to-do list.

CATCH UP ON ANY UNANSWERED EMAILS AND COMMENTS.

Take some time to go through your emails, social media platforms and your blog to answer any unanswered comments and questions. The sooner you can get back to people the better it is for you and the more professional your business appears. Have a look if there are any customers who haven’t got back to you in a while. This might be a good chance to give them a gentle nudge.

Are you going to give any of these activities a go? Are there any other weekend tasks that you could do to improve your business?
